If you have a YouTube channel, blog or a website, what’s the one thing you will be looking for? More traffic right?
You won’t be able to do anything without bringing in traffic to your online business. You feel handicapped.
I get asked this question from many, not just from social media or by email, but by real life entrepreneurs who want to try and succeed online. How do I get more traffic / visitors ?
That’s the reason why I want to take some time and share a few SEO tools which are going to definitely help you grow your online presence.
When I started out using SEO tools, I was confused just like you on which one’s to use.
I have listed down the best free and paid SEO tools that I have tried and tested.
Let’s check them out one by one.
If you’re new to this whole SEO thing, I highly recommend that you go with SEMrush. It’s easier to use and has less learning curve when compared to other paid tools.
This is a tool that is like a one stop shop for getting more traffic. It’s got a variety of SEO tools.
It can not only analyze your own website traffic but can spy on all your competitor’s keywords and estimate their website traffic. So you can see how to climb up the rankings.
It can also be used to help you find out what kind of content people are looking for, what they’re searching for, and how you can get in front of them. Because that’s the whole aim, right?
If you want a jack of all trades to monitor your brand, rankings and backlinks, conduct keyword research, site audits, competitor analysis, and more, it’s a very cost-effective option (you can signup for free trial, but it’s worth opting for the paid version if you really want to get the most out of it).
In general, SEMrush is a perfect tool for all kinds of marketers and bloggers to grow their traffic and more importantly sales
If you are comfortable with SEO and are looking for an in depth analysis, Ahrefs is the answer.
The analysis feature is really good compared to any other tools out there.
Ahrefs offers a wide variety of optimization tools, including rank tracking, web monitoring, content and keyword research, competitive analysis, and backlink research.
It provides a comprehensive keyword report to the user and uses clickstream data to show how many clicks you will get from the search engine.
The UI and UX are great. It’s really easy to find what you need once you get a hang of it.
For SEO experts, there is no better tool than Ahrefs and I highly recommend it.
In SEO, one of the challenges is to find the right keyword which can drive traffic to your website and generate more revenue.
LTP has an edge over SEMrush and Ahrefs in keyword research.
This is one of the best tools in finding high traffic, low competition keywords in a niche / micro-niche.
It’s easy to use & saves a lot of time with keyword research and competitor analysis.
LTP offers keyword research, competitors analysis, calculate keyword profitability, analyze keyword competitiveness, SERP analysis, rank tracking, and more.
Moz is an all-purpose SEO tool that you can use for site audit, backlink analysis, keyword research, and so on.
I think Moz is well-suited for bigger enterprise businesses looking to take more control over their SEO appearance and results on Google’s SERP. If you are a small business owner or blogger who is just starting out, I think your money is better invested elsewhere as it’s more expensive.
The UI and UX isn’t that great compared to SEMrush and Ahrefs. Also their backlink analysis isn’t great.
Their blogs are something that I often take a look at. They have a comprehensive collection of resources on SEO and Content Marketing. If you ever need to sharpen your skills, give it a read.
Unlike SEMrush and Ahrefs, Moz Pro gives a 30 days trial with full access to all their tools.
KWFinder is a popular tool developed by Mangools.
This is a perfect SEO tool for beginners and you don’t need to be an expert by any means.
They have kept the UI & UX very simple and straightforward.
KWFinder is very good for keyword research. You will get tons of keyword ideas, with monthly search volume and a keyword difficulty score. It’s also got advanced features for keyword research, like filtering results and analyzing the SERP.
KWFinder’s SERP (Search Engine Results Page) Checker preview is a great tool which provides details like the number of backlinks, page authority and domain authority.
You won’t get a deep analysis like you get with SEMrush and Ahrefs.
Their pricing is low compared to other SEO giants.
5 Best Free SEO tools
Ubersuggest is one of the best free SEO tools out there and is perfect for small and medium websites.
Neil Patel has taken Ubersuggest to the next level.
The interface is simple and easy to navigate around.
The “keyword ideas” is a one of the best features which shows keyword suggestions, related keywords, prepositions, comparisons.
It does a remarkable job in identifying questions which work similarly to answer the public.
They extract data from Google’s Keywords Planner API and make tweaks using their own algorithm to get best results.
It also comes with other features such as content ideas that can help generate traffic, competitor analysis where you get to know how much traffic your competitors are getting every month, their most successful keywords and pages, site audits to identify and fix your website, website domain score, total backlinks and referring domains.
They are still working on adding more features and you can expect them in the near future.
Google Keyword Planner
Google Keyword Planner is a free tool and it’s mostly used for SEO and PPC.
First, you need to start a Google Ads account in order to use it.
One main reason you can rely on this tool is that its data comes straight from google.
Most of the SEO tools extract their data from Google Keyword Planner.
Enter a keyword or group of keywords into the tool, and Google will return all sorts of helpful stats to guide your keyword strategy: monthly search volume, competition, and even suggested terms you might not have considered.
It is one of the best tools to plan and forecast your PPC campaigns.
It has so many useful features and the best part is its free. It is not easy to master but with a deeper understanding of this tool, you can get the best out of it.
Answer the Public
Answer the Public helps you to generate a list of questions from any set of keywords.
The data is retrieved from the queries people ask on forums, blogs and social media.
It gives you multiple forms of data including questions, related queries, prepositions and comparisons, all in a beautiful visualization form.
This tool provides you with tons of keyword ideas.
This is an awesome tool that I use in my keyword research and I highly recommend it that you use it even if you are using paid SEO tools like SEMrush or Ahrefs.
Google Search Console
Google Search Console, formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools, is a must have for any websites trying to rank on Search Engine.
The data is legit as it comes from Google itself.
GSC gives you data like total clicks, impressions, average CTR and Average position of a page on your website or a keyword that people are searching for.
Monitoring this data can help you improve your content, and thus help improve sites ranking in the SERPs.
Combining GSC along with Google Analytics or GA is a SEO powerhouse.
Rank Math WordPress Plugin
If you are running a WordPress website, and you haven’t installed any SEO Plugin, STOP RIGHT NOW.
Go and install one.
I would personally recommend Rank Math because it uses the most updated optimization techniques and comes with a modern and easy to use interface.
Rank Math, also known as “swiss army knife of SEO tools for WordPress” is a free SEO plugin for WordPress which helps you optimize your content inorder to rank higher in SERPs.
It tightly integrates with Google Search Console to bring you essential information right inside your WordPress admin dashboard.
The tool covers everything from optimizing your page titles and meta descriptions and monitoring 404 errors, to creating XML sitemaps and identifying fresh content opportunities. It will even recommend the ideal settings to help you run a fully optimized WordPress site.
An alternative to Rank Math would be Yoast SEO WordPress Plugin.
My Final Thoughts
The rank tracking, keyword research, and link analysis are all too difficult or time consuming without an SEO power suite. I’ve tried to get away without paying for them; that was a mistake. I could have gained a lot more traffic by using one of these tools from the beginning.
If you’re interested in improving your website’s search rankings, then investing in SEO software is a must.
So here’s what I would suggest you do.
- Choose SEO power suite tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs or Moz.
- Install Yoast or Rank Math Plugin if you are using WordPress.
- Take full advantage of Free SEO tools.
This would be enough for you to optimize your site for search engines and help you rank on the 1st page.
Let me know in the comments below which all SEO tools you are using for your website and how it is turning out for you.
